I took Georgia off to the Dolomites to do a recce of some via ferratas in the Val di Fassa. We managed a couple of days of exploration before we were flooded out of the campsite. The plan was then to meet up with Andy and Lorraine Leivers for some mountain routes but the weather forced us to Slovenia to do some sport’s climbing. It was my first visit to the country and I was impressed with the country and the climbing.

We returned to Austria as the weather picked up, enabling Andy and I to climb the South West Pillar of the Gross Kopperkarstein on the Dachstein. What a cliff! I wasn’t used to unpolished limestone.
